The Weather and your Bunny
Winter Months!
For bunnies living in hatches outside you may want to position your hutch in a sheltered area or against a wall, you will need a hutch cover or tarpaulin to keep out drafts and rain. A bottle cover is ideal to prevent bottles freezing, a old sock is also appropriate.
Blankets can be added in sleeping area, floor lined with newspaper and straw and heat pads can be purchased that warm in a microwave.
The sides of the hutch can be covered with waterproof material.
Boxes filled with shreaded paper are a good source added to the sleeping area with plenty of straw.
Some people bring there bunny in for the winter months also.
Give extra food in the winter months as this helps keep them warm.
If your bunny is kept in a shed or garage please make sure there is no hazardous substances as fumes can kill.
If your car is kept in the garage your bun wont be safe due to exhaust fumes.
Summer Months
Bunnies don't tolerate heat very well and can die from overheated, plenty of water is a must, you may need to refill bottles more than usual.
If possible out of hutch as often as possible in run were bridges and boxes can be placed so your bunny can shelter and move into comfortable spots.
Rabbit runs can be purchased with part shaded areas or you could put a wet towel over one side to provide this.
A ceramic tile can be placed in the sleeping area for bunny to sit on and keep cool.
Freeze some veg this is a great treat on a summers day.
